Community Lunch Connections

Description

The Greater Iowa City, Inc. Lunch Connections bring together business professionals, community leaders, and city officials. All are invited to learn about city plans and events affecting business, local resources, and new opportunities. Join us for lunch, a brief program, and informal networking.


Venue: This week, we will meet at Big Grove Brewery. Registration is requested, preparing the venue to serve lunch in a timely manner, but drop-ins are welcome.


Program: Come learn about the Iowa City Charter review process at this week's Iowa City Lunch Connection. The Iowa City Charter lays out how city government is structured, including:

  1. Composition and election of City Council and the Mayor
  2. Council districts
  3. Duties of the City Manager
  4. Restrictions on campaign contributions
  5. Procedures for initiatives and referendums

Every ten years, the Council appoints a Commission to review the Charter. Hear from current Commissioners about the process and learn how you can share your input. Visit the Charter Review Commission website for further information.
